The one and only, George Clooney! Well, not really. But he's just as gorgeous as his namesake in all the female rabbit powder rooms. Clooney is an orange/black tricolor Mini-Rex. He's gettin' to be the seasoned fellow.....going on 11 years old in'08.
Mini-Rex (and their larger relatives, the Standard Rex) are the true Velveteen Rabbit. Their fur is very plush. I fell in love with this breed and it became my joy for over 9 years. In that time, my focus was on the difficult tricolor variety, similar to calico in any other language. Now, as I continue onto a new path with horses, I'll cherish all the hard work and those fun filled rabbit show days.
Clooney is such a sweetheart and has a wonderful personality. Some rabbits huddle in a corner, dreading to be touched. Not Clooney. He's always greeting you at his cage door, giving you the nice chin rub which means "you're mine" in rabbit language. He'll do just about anything for a raisin, which he considers rabbit candy.
Although Clooney doesn't exhibit the rich orange color that the standard calls for, in his day, you could not beat him on type. He was my first grand champion tricolor and became my main herd sire. He helped me champion, what was then, the new upcoming color variety in Mini-Rex. Clooney is now in retirement, as is my HOPSALOT RABBITRY. Although all the other rabbits have found homes elsewhere, he will continue to live out his days with me. I am very proud to say that Clooney and I made a strong stamp on the tricolor variety and wish the best of success to all those who will be carrying on that line.
